about the publisher
An avid storyteller, Allyson Meyer found her way from California to Whidbey Island in April 2022. Descended from Oak Harbor’s 1858 Irish pioneers, Meyer moved to Whidbey to be closer to her family and to explore her ancestral connection to the island. She founded Allyson Meyer Communications in May 2022 and has collaborated with numerous island organizations to hone their communications and marketing strategy through video, writing, and social media support. She earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Managerial Leadership from the University of San Diego and has worked as a freelance writer for award-winning education and travel publications. Meyer currently serves on the Board of Directors for South Whidbey Hearts & Hammers and Good Cheer Food Bank & Thrift Stores and serves as the Corresponding Secretary for the Whidbey Island Pioneer Burial Association. In December 2024, Meyer became the publisher and editor of Whidbey Life Magazine. During her free time, she enjoys exploring all that the island has to offer.
